Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES!
GENEVA, NEW YORK – The Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board Inc. (FLWIB) announced today that Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES (Board of Cooperative Educational Services) is May’s “Community Partner of the Month,” recognizing the BOCES’ efforts in working collaboratively with Finger Lakes WIB to address workforce issues impacting the region.
Founded in 1971 when the Wayne County BOCES merged with the BOCES of Ontario, Seneca and Yates Counties, Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES provides quality educational services and programs for 25 school districts and residents of Wayne, Ontario, Seneca and Yates counties. Additionally Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES serves adult students in practical nursing programs, CNA classes, daytime technical and career classes, adult literacy programs, and high school equivalency diploma preparation classes.

Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES has been an active partner with the FLWIB throughout the years collaborating on various initiatives while working together through Board and Consortium related activities. Events like the annual Healthcare Career Day where nursing students from BOCES serve as tour guides interacting with high school students interested in careers in healthcare or initiatives such as the development of a two day “soft–skills” training for job-seekers highlight the partnership that has developed over the years between FLWIB and Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES.
“We are fortunate to have such an innovative community partner in our region” said Karen Springmeier, Executive Director, Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board. “We look forward to continued collaboration to address issues impacting education and workforce development and better prepare our emerging workforce for the demand occupations in the Finger Lakes region.”
